La frase “All the young dudes carry the news” ha dichiarato Bowie, si riferisce ad un punto della storia raccontata nel disco quando il mondo è rimasto senza elettricità e Ziggy usa le canzoni per diffondere le notizie. ““All the Young Dudes” è una canzone su queste notizie” ha dichiarato. “Non è un inno alla gioventù, come la gente ha pensato. E’ esattamente l’opposto“.
